Dietitian Expert Witness
Independent CPR Part 35 expert reports for solicitors, barristers and courts across England and Wales. Instructed in cases involving malnutrition, enteral feeding, nutritional negligence and paediatric nutrition.
What Does a Dietitian Expert Witness Do?
A dietitian expert witness provides independent expert opinion in legal cases where clinical nutrition, malnutrition or dietary management may be relevant to the issues in dispute.
Expert reports are prepared in accordance with the duties of expert witnesses and the relevant court rules, including CPR Part 35, to assist the court with clear and impartial interpretation of the clinical nutrition evidence.
CPR Part 35 Expert Reports in Clinical Nutrition
As an HCPC-registered dietitian with more than 15 years of clinical experience across NHS hospitals and private practice, I am instructed by solicitors, barristers and courts to review medical records and provide expert opinion where nutrition may have influenced patient outcomes.
My reports are written in accordance with the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR Part 35) and the duties of expert witnesses to assist the court through objective, independent analysis of the clinical evidence.

Areas of Medico-Legal Expertise
I provide expert opinion in matters involving clinical nutrition across civil litigation, family proceedings and criminal cases.
Common areas of instruction include:
Failure to recognise or manage malnutrition in hospitals or care settings
Failure to perform or act on nutrition screening assessments (e.g. MUST)
Failure to monitor weight, nutritional intake or nutritional decline
Refeeding syndrome risk and management
Delayed or inappropriate dietetic referral
Complications relating to enteral feeding (nasogastric or PEG feeding)
Complications relating to total parenteral nutrition (TPN)
Faltering growth or failure to thrive in paediatric cases
Nutritional management following neurological injury or complex illness
Nutrition-related harm in clinical negligence or catastrophic injury cases
If your case involves nutrition-related issues not listed above, I am happy to discuss whether expert opinion may assist the court.

Dietitian Expert Witness in London
I regularly provide expert witness services to solicitors instructing in London and across the UK and internationally.
Many clinical negligence cases involving nutrition arise from admissions to London NHS trusts and private hospitals, and I am regularly instructed by both claimant and defendant solicitors in these matters.

My work in UK-based litigation frequently involves cases relating to hospital malnutrition, delayed dietetic referral, failure to monitor nutritional status, prolonged nil-by-mouth periods and metabolic complications such as re-feeding syndrome.

Expert evidence typically involves analysing clinical documentation, constructing a chronology of nutritional care, and assessing whether deterioration was reasonably foreseeable and appropriately managed at the time.
